Biography

I've been a sketch artist for almost as long as I can remember- mainly pencil but occasionally some ink work would creep in every now and again.

My work was always pretty average, mediocre even, up until the mid 1990s. It was during this time that I began developing a sketching style which relied heavily on the use of negative space. This style was gradually refined until it had a definite photorealistic appearance of which i am very proud.

In 1998 I finally owned my own computer, and about 6 months later a close friend gave me a copy of Photoshop 5 which I pretty much never even touched at the time.

This same friend introduced me to Customize.org in 1999 and I definitely became hooked on creating desktop wallpapers. It was this same year that I started using the Bryce 4 and Poser 4 applications to create 'base images' which I would then modify.

I found deviantART in 2000, and gradually shifted from mediocre wallpapers to larger resolution poster prints.

I relyed heavily on Bryce and Poser during this time which made for some fairly rough work but eventually I began using Photoshop for postproduction work and the rough edges began getting more refined.

Working with a mouse was a real pain, which really prevented me from getting really detailed for awhile- that is until i bought a 9x12 Intuos tablet in 2001.

With the tablet on my desk I was better able to utilize my sketching skills and as a result my pieces became more detailed- and began taking me longer to finish.

In 2004 I began to wean myself away from using the Bryce an Poser applications and began to digitally airbrush far more often, producing works such as 'Zebra' and 'White Tiger' which did not rely upon a pre-rendered computer image as a base.

I'm always striving to become a better artist and it's a long road with no end in sight.
